INSTRUCTORS

We place a high value on providing campers with quality instruction to help them develop their skills in all aspects of the game. We hire extremely qualified instructors with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Along with current and former collegiate and professional players, current high school coaches and players also make up the team of instructors to provide a wide variety of expertise. Below is a look at the instructors we have had over the last nine years.

MIKE KING

2015

Named the 2013 RI Gatorade Player of the Year, he helped pitch Bishop Hendricken to two state titles before he went on to a stellar career on the mound at Boston College. In 2016 he was drafted by the Miami Marlins before being traded to the Yankees where he was named Minor League Pitching Prospect of the Year and made his MLB debut in 2019. King has spent the last several seasons pitching for the Yankees before being traded to the Padres for Juan Soto. 

MATT SWEENEY

 2016 & 2017 

Sweeney is a 2016 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School where he was a First Team All-State Third Basemen and helped the Hawks win their record fifth consecutive state title. He went on to Loyola University where he was a member of their club baseball team.

BRIAN CIPOLLA

2015 - 2020

Cipolla was an infielder at Bishop Hendricken and helped them win the 2016 state championship as a senior. He then went on to play at CCRI for a season before transferring to Newbury College where he was the Nighthawks starting second basemen. He then transferred to Lasell College to finish out his collegiate career.

MIKE MCCAFFREY

2017 & 2018

One of the most accomplished pitchers in Bishop Hendricken history, the lefty helped pitch the Hawks to three consecutive state championships before graduating in 2015. The All-Stater then continued his career at Wesleyan University where he was a standout on the mound. He also spent a summer pitching for the Newport Gulls of the NECBL.

NICK FEOLA

2017 - 2019

A 2015 graduate of Bishop Hendricken, the catcher won the state title with the Hawks in his senior year. He continued his career at Anna Maria College before transferring to Rhode Island College where he recently wrapped up his career. He also has had a stint of playing for the Ocean State Waves in the NECBL. Feola now serves as an Assistant Coach at North Providence.

MIKE WEBB

2017 - 2022

A pitcher and infielder during his time playing at Bishop Hendricken, the 2015 graduate helped the Hawks to two state titles. He continued his career at St. Michael's before transferring to Rhode Island College where this past season he was named an All-American. He spent a summer playing for the Wareham Gatemen in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Webb is utilized his final year of eligibility pitching at the Division 1 level for URI where he was an All-Conference performer. He then continued his career professionally in Independent Baseball.

BILLY WALKER

2016

Walker was a 4-year starter and 3-time All-State catcher before graduating from Bishop Hendricken in 2012. He continued his career at Division 1 University of Hartford where he played for four seasons. Walker also spent several summers playing in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.

RYAN ROTONDO

2017 - 2022

Rotondo was a First Team All-State infielder during his senior year for Bishop Hendricken in 2014. His play helped the Hawks to back-to-back state championships. He continued his career at CCRI the following year before transferring to Division 1 University of Maryland - Eastern Shore. He has spent summers playing for the Laconia Muskrats of the NECBL and most recently he transferred to Rhode Island College where he recently wrapped up his career.

EDDIE MARKOWSKI

2016 & 2018

A 2013 graduate of Bishop Hendricken, Markowski served as captain and helped lead the Hawks to two state titles. This includes being named MVP of the 2013 state finals as well as First Team All-State. He was named the 2013 RI Schoolboy Athlete of the Year for his performance in both hockey and baseball. Upon graduation he attended St. Joe's University and played hockey.

PETE PARRELLA

2017 & 2018

Parrella is a 2010 graduate from Bishop Hendricken where he helped the Hawks win two state titles. The outfielder went on to play at Division II powerhouse  Southern New Hampshire University. He now serves as an instructor and coach at the Rhode Island Baseball Institute.

BILLY KEEGAN

2017

Keegan is a 2015 graduate of Bishop Hendricken and helped the Hawks win three consecutive sate championships. The infielder then continued his career at junior college powerhouse Patrick Henry Community College in Virginia before transferring to Merrimack.

BRAD VAN FECHTMANN

2015

A 2009 graduate, Van Fechtmann was a star pitcher for East Greenwich High School. He continued his career at the University of Rhode Island before transferring to the University of North Alabama and eventually Rhode Island College. Upon completion of his playing career, he served as pitching coach at East Greenwich High School before being named the Head Coach at Narragansett.

GIAN MARTELLINI

2017 & 2020

The 2014 and 2015 RI Gatorade Player of the Year while at Bishop Hendricken, the catcher continued his career at Boston College where he is currently a senior. He also spent two summers playing in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Most recently, Martellini played professionally with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League.

ELIJAH BROWN

2017 - 2022

A 2016 graduate of Bishop Hendricken, the All-State Infielder went on to play Division 1 Baseball at Sacred Heart University where he is currently a junior. He has spent summers playing for the New Bedford Bay Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Upon wrapping up a great career for the Pioneers, Brown went on to play professionally with multiple independent teams.

BRADY CHANT

2015 & 2018

Chant served as captain at Bishop Hendricken before graduating in 2014. He went on to have a stellar career at Suffolk University that included him being named GNAC Player of the Year, All-American and receiving the Gold Glove Award. To continue his career he signed a professional contract with the Bankstown Vikings of the New South Wales State League in Australia.

JUSTIN FINAN

2015

Justin is a 2012 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School who went on to pitch at Holy Cross for four seasons. Most recently he pitched professionally for the Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League.

MATT MURPHY

2016. 2019, 2020 & 2022

Murphy is a 2013 graduate of Bishop Hendricken. Upon graduation he went to Assumption as an infielder before transferring to the University of Rhode Island where he was a standout on the mound for two seasons. He spent the 2018 season playing Independent Baseball for the Traverse City Beach Bums and most recently spent time pitching professionally in the Czech Republic. Murphy has also served as the Pitching Coach at Rhode Island College and Director of Baseball Operations at URI.

MIKE BRADSTREET

2015

A 2009 graduate of North Penn High School (PA), he continued his career at the University of Rhode Island where he became a standout pitcher for the Rams. He went on to pitch professionally in the Pecos League and Can-Am League.

JEFF ROY

2016

Jeff was a two-time All-Stater for Bishop Hendricken before graduating in 2010. The outfielder continued his career at the University of Rhode Island where he was named Atlatnic-10 Player of the Year in 2012. In the 2013 MLB Draft he was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates where he spent four seasons in the minor leagues. He has since gone on to coach at Salve Regina, URI and Becker College.

MATT FOLEY

2019

A native of Seekonk, Foley was a standout at Rhode Island College where he was a First-Team All-American and All-Conference selection. In 2015, the Miami Marlins selected him in the 40th round of the MLB Draft. He has since spent time with both the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets organizations. In 2019, he served as the Hitting Coach for the State Champion Bishop Hendricken Hawks as well as playing for the Ottawa Champions in the Can-Am League.

GUS CULPO

2019

Culpo is a 2014 graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School where he helped pitch the Hawks to the 2014 state title. Following graduation he has spent time pitching for Worcester Academy, University of Pittsburgh, Orange Coast College, University of Southern California and most recently URI.

BRENDAN CONLEY

2019 & 2020

As Co-Captain, he led the Bishop Hendricken Hawks to the 2016 State Championship along with helping them win the 2014 and 2015 titles as well. From there he continued his career at Worcester Academy before heading to Siena University where he is mainstay in their lineup at both second base and in the outfield. He spent the 2019 summer playing in the highly competitive NECBL for the Ocean State Waves.

CHRISTIAN AYBAR

2019

A member of the 2013, 2014 and 2015 state championship teams at Bishop Hendricken, Aybar continued his career at Southern New Hampshire University. He has since spent time at Herkimer Community College and at New England College where he was a starting Outfielder. He has also spent time playing in the NYCBL and NECBL during the summers.

KEVIN GOWER

2017, 2018, 2020, & 2023

A three year Varsity letterwinner, First Team All-Stater and member of the 2019 State Championship team at Bishop Hendricken, Gower continued his career at Umass-Amherst before transferring to Springfield College.

DAVID BORDIERI

2017 - 2023

Bordieri was a three year starter at second base, All-Division selection and Captain of the 2019 State Championship team at Bishop Hendricken. He received a scholarship to play at Fairleigh Dickinson.

BRAYDON DOLBASHIAN

2017 - 2020, 2023

Dolbashian was a standout at Bishop Hendricken where he was an All-State selection and helped lead the Hawks to the 2019 State Championship. He has continued his career at Merrimack College where he is a senior infielder.

MATT SMALDONE

2017-2020

Starring on both the mound and at First Base, Smaldone was an a First Team All-State and All-Division pick while playing for Bishop Hendricken. He attended Sacred Heart to pitch for the Pioneers before transferring to the University of Rhode Island.

ROB HENRY

2020

Henry was a standout at Bishop Hendricken before continuing his career at Brown University. While playing for the Bears, Henry was a four-year starter and was named Captain as well as receiving All-Ivy League honors. In 2017, he was selected in the 39th round of the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. He spent  three seasons playing in the minor leagues across multiple levels.

TUCKER FLINT

2020 & 2022

A rare four-year starter at the Varsity level for Bishop Hendricken, his high school career was filled with accolades. He served a two-year Captain for the Hawks, was a two-time State Champion, three-time All-Stater, and the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year. Also in 2019, he was selected in the 36th round of the MLB Draft by the New York Mets. He elected not to sign and instead attend the University of Maryland before transferring to Chipola where he was named Conference Player of the Year before being drafted by the LA Angels where he is currently in the minor leagues.

RANDY REYES

2020, 2022, &2023

Reyes was a standout on the mound in his career at Bishop Hendricken. The lefty's excellence helped lead the Hawks to an undefeated season and State Championship in 2019. He received a scholarship to pitch at Central Connecticut State University where he has spent the last several seasons before transferring to Grambling. He was also named an All-Star in the NECBL.

CALEB WURSTER

2020

Wurster excelled in not only baseball while at Bishop Hendricken, but also football and track & field. After helping the Hawks to multiple state titles in his career, the lefty continued his career at the University of Connecticut. He served as a top option out of the bullpen for the Huskies. Wurster has also spent time pitching in the summer for the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. He was taken in the 15th round of the MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins where he is currently pitching in the minors.

MIKE WALSH

2020-2023

Walsh had a standout career at Warwick Vets HS where he won the prestigious Gatorade Player of the Year Award. He then went on to pitch for Central Arizona Junior College before finishing his career at Roger Williams. Upon completion of his playing career he went on to serve as Head Coach at Cranston East for 11 years and was the Pitching Coach at URI for a season. He has also worked camps at URI, Brown and UConn.

DEAN GARGANESE

2020-2023

Garganese served as Head Coach for North Providence High School fro 21 seasons, which included leading the Cougars to the 2010 state finals. He also spent time coaching at Bryant University. In 2020 he joined the varsity staff at Bishop Hendricken to work with the team's hitters and fielders.

BRYAN LEAHEY

2015-2023

Leahey has served as a coach at Bishop Hendricken since 2006. He has spent time at the freshmen and varsity levels and will enter his tenth season as an Assistant Coach with the varsity team where he specializes in working with the catchers and also coaches first base. In his tenure, he has helped lead the Hawks to four varsity state titles.

CHRIS MANZO

2020-2023

Manzo was a Captain at Bishop Hendricken where he was a starting infielder and pitcher. He continued his career at the collegiate level at Assumption University where he is a starting infielder.

XAVIER QUEZADA

2020-2023

Quezada was a three-year letterwinner at Bishop Hendricken where he served as Captain and starting Shortstop. Upon graduation, he continued his career at Worcester State University where he starts in the infield for the Lancers.

BLAKE ROBERGE

2020-2021

Roberge was a standout pitcher at Bishop Hendricken where he helped the Hawks capture the 2019 state title. He continued his career on the mound at Springfield College.
